Kpo says: Malbec??!! And it’s not from Argentina or Cahor? |
Malbec is a grape variety that was originally widely planted in the Bordeaux region of France but was slowly phased out in Bordeaux after phylloxera, while it is now more associated with Cahor region of south western France and Argentina where it has found its new home. Malbec was brought to Moldova by the French settlers in the 19th century and has been in Moldovs ever since. The cooler climate of Moldova gives the grape a lot softer and elegant expression when compared to Argentina or Cahor.
