Producer
Set in the south-eastern corner of Moldova just 30km from the Black Sea, Chateau Purcari has long been associated with top quality wines made from both local and international grape varieties.
In 1827 Purcari was officially established as Bessarabia’s first winery by the Russian Tsar Nicholas I and its wines began to attract global attention by winning gold medals at the Paris World Exhibition in 1878. Today the winery is recognised as one of the region’s finest for its hearty reds and elegant whites.
Tasting Notes
An intense and magnificent red wine which has its own unique character with plenty of dark cherry, blackberry and cassis notes and hints of red pepper, leather and earthy forest floor. The well integrated tannins and medium to full bodied make this a great wine to enjoy now alongside hearty red meat dishes or to keep in the cellar for another decade or so.
