Kpo says: Light, juicy and peppery — chill it down and discover just how dangerously drinkable Kadarka can be! |
Grapes: Kadarka
Petit Bonsai tells the story of Kadarka across generations. The wine comes from young vines descended from Vida Péter’s remarkable century-old Bonsai vineyard, whose ancient vines played an important role in the clonal selection and preservation of this historic Hungarian grape.
Four selected old Kadarka clones were replanted in the Baranya-völgy and Virághegy vineyards, allowing the genetic heritage of the original Bonsai vines to live on in a younger generation.
The grapes are hand harvested and carefully selected before being destemmed, with fermentation and ageing taking place entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The wine is bottled unfined and with minimal filtration, preserving Kadarka’s delicate fruit and naturally light-footed character.
Pale, vibrant and wonderfully aromatic, with fresh red berries, cherry and characteristic peppery spice. Light-bodied and energetic on the palate, with juicy fruit, lively acidity and delicate tannins.
A joyful, modern expression of Kadarka — fragrant, spicy and deliciously drinkable, especially when served slightly chilled.
Vines age 13–14 years ago, fermented and aged in stainless steel, no oak, bottled unfined with minimal filtration.

Producer
Vida Péter is one of the defining producers of modern Szekszárd and a passionate champion of Hungary’s indigenous grape varieties. Founded as a family estate and built over more than three decades, the winery today farms 23 hectares across some of Szekszárd’s finest valleys and vineyards.
Named Hungary’s Winemaker of the Year in 2011, Péter Vida has long believed that the true identity of Szekszárd lies not in powerful international-style reds, but in elegant, expressive wines based on Kadarka, Kékfrankos and the historic Bikavér blend.
Today, the next generation of the Vida family continues this philosophy, combining careful vineyard work with a fresh, increasingly precise approach in the cellar. Particular attention is given to preserving and revitalising Kadarka, including the estate’s remarkable century-old Bonsai vines and their selected descendants.
The result is a distinctly Szekszárd style: fragrant, elegant and full of character, with freshness and drinkability always taking precedence over sheer power.
